Incognito install question

On Spiflash.org - it has the step that says "replace with ribbon cable as shown"





Now, the problem is, my ribbon cable doesn't look this this.

If I place the red stripe on the same side as this photo then my cable goes the opposite direction.

If I make the ribbon cable go back over the the expansion area like this one - that would have the red stripe on the opposite side.

Now I know the red stripe is normally a guide, so - what's the deal here?  Anyone have a guess on which way this should be plugged in?
