I have two 1050 drives, both work, but both have their annoying idiosyncrasies. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to fix the following problems:
Drive 1 doesn't hold floppy disks in far enough. Sometimes I need to push the disk in just a little for it to spin smoothly and read anything. Otherwise the disk won't spin, or spins too slowly.
Drive 2 holds the disks too tightly. If I close the drive latch all the way, it grips the disk too hard for it to spin. If I hold the latch closed maybe half way, the disk spins smoothly and works fine.
So yes, I've been pushing the disk in a little on Drive 1 and holding the latch halfway closed on Drive 2, but I'd LIKE to be able to just put a disk in and close the latch and have both drives cooperate.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
