This is probably a dumb question. I picked up 5 800XL and 5 1050 drives with a ton of games on floppy not too long ago, you can see my post here http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/204705-new-800xl-owner/. I finally got around to testing everything but am not sure if I am starting the disk games correctly.
I looks simple enough, connect the disk drive to the 800 with a cord. I watched a youtube video where a guy turned on the disk drive, held down the option button then turned on the 800. I did the same thing. Two disk drives gave me a boot error. One just went to the "ready" screen. The other two went to a test screen. So am I doing it right? I tried a few games like Ultima, Nam, and Questron with no luck. Any suggestions?
I will be dissapointed if the drives don't work because of the stack of floppy games I have. On the other hand if the disk drives don't work I will probably be getting rid of all the games on floppy disk.
