Long story short I got the collecting bug and have been looking for cool games for the 2600 lately. Now to give myself some direction I think I need a goal in mind or else I'll mindlessly buy stuff. So I am thinking about getting a complete (loose carts only) collection of a single third-party publisher (North American NTSC releases only). I already have one complete, Epyx, though that was hardly an achievement since there are just 3 titles.
So I am considering one of the big three, Activision, iMagic and Parker Bros (should M-network be considered as well). Now my biggest concern is building this collection and having so-so games. At this point I am leaning heavily towards Activision as I think their titles as a whole are generally the best out there. I've been playing Pitfall II and Commando a fair bit lately and am REALLY impressed by what they do on the 2600. But on the other hand I am looking at ~40 titles for Activision whereas the other major publishers' libraries are smaller and maybe more obtainable.
Are the Activision titles a good place to start, or is there another publisher (even one I haven't considered) worth going after for a newish collector?
