Well, I'm starting to get sold on the foil dot repair. I've been grabbing up any and every 5200 controller I can find in hopes of getting one with a good flex circuit. My last acquisition was in a lot... two 2600 working consoles with controllers and hookups and perhaps 30 games for an Arcadia 2001 with five games and a 5200 with nothing but two dead controllers.
One of the controllers had a working Rev 6 flex circuit. I added in foil dots and it works--for now. The circuit is badly bent right above the keypad.
My other controller has a rev 9 flex circuit but needed foil dots to make it work. I'm seeing rev 9 flex circuits for $9 shipped. I've used it some since I worked on it, and I See no signs of it dying any time soon. The rev 9 circuits might be an excellent way to repair the four controllers I still have that don't work so they can be sold off with the second system once it's power modded.
