Upgrading 1200xl with Ultimate1MB / removing APE Warp OS 32-in-1

Hi everyone,

Ultimate1MB from Lotharek just arrived, so I decided to ruin my Sunday by giving it to my 1200xl. These two things makes the installation more difficult for me:

- I have never done anything like this before
- My 1200xl was upgraded with APE Warp OS 32-in-1 by previous owner

I am not sure if removing APE Warp OS 32-in-1 and simply installing Ultimate1MB instead would be enough…Do I have to undo some of these steps which were done when APE Warp OS 32-in-1 was installed?

Taken from APE Warp OS 32-in-1 installation manual for 1200xl:

1. Desolder and remove W7, W8 and W9. Take the jumpers you removed and install them in positions W11, W12 and W13
2. Remove jumper W6. This jumper is located just to the right of the lower OS ROM socket. This jumper will not be re-used.

3. Connect the top pad from the W6 location to pin 23 of the CPU

4. Take the resistor included in your kit and solder one end to pin 20 of PIA. Solder the other end to pin 11 of PIA. Do this on the bottom of the PCB.
5. Take another length of wire and connect one end to pin 11 of PIA, where you just connected the resistor, and the other end to pin 18 of the MMU socket
6. Solder the free end of the WHITE wire to the top pad of R59. Connect the RED wire to the top pad of R15. Connect the BLACK wire to the top pad of R123.

----------------------------

Another thing: when I opened the machine a discovered that for some reason the RF shield is not there –missing. Does it have any impact to functionality/health or anything else? Should I try to get it somewhere?

Thanks.
