Well, I got some coffee spilled in a Vader unit this morning. When it happened, I pulled the power plug instantly and pulled the Dragster cart out. I cleaned up the case and fired the unit back up, but there was no color at all. Later I opened it and blew coffee out of the three IC sockets. I cleaned up all three ICs the best I could and reassembled the unit. Now there's nothing. There's a very brief flash of color and then the screen goes black.
Before I opened the unit up the first time, I tried it with Starmaster. The Color/BW switch caused that game to switch between the map and cockpit views just like it should, but would not restore color to the unit.
I can only think of a few possibilities:
I've either gotten the CPU and the TIA in the wrong sockets, the motherboard is dead, or one of the ICs is dead. The power supply is fine--we tested that, the joysticks, and Dragster on another console. It's just the Vader console itself that's not wanting to work right now.
Any ideas?
