Micropainter not working with Altirra

I not sure what's going on, but I don't understand why Micropainter will run under Altirra as an XEX, but not on a disk with either Atari DOS 2.0S or MYDOS.  When a DOS is included, it beeps once like it wants to load a cassette and freezes. ????

What am I doing wrong?
