Hi all!
I just bought my 2nd 2600, my first being the one I bought in junior high in 1980, and I am having a blast. I got it cheap on eBay and it was listed as "not-working". I figured since I love troubleshooting and tinkering I could fix it. Well, I did and everything works except the player 2 joystick port. It seems to be stuck as if the fire button were held down. After some research on the internet, this site included, I deduced that the CO10750 chip might be bad. Before searching for one I thought I'd double check with the experts here.
For the record, I've tested a known good joystick in the port and taken the machine apart and inspected the soldering. My test was with a couple of games, namely Boxing, Joust, and Combat.They all behaved as is the fire button were stuck down, even when there was no joystick plugged in.
