My working Jaguar had a flaky cartridge port that I assumed was due to the smashed pins syndrome. I carefully examined them and they looked fine. It would take several attempts to insert the cartridge and usually something wedged up against it before it would work.
What I did was to sharpen my fine soldering iron then melt the solder on each of the cartridge port pins on the underside of the pcb. Now it works. Must have been a poor solder joint that cracked due to cartridge insertions.
Cheers
