Hey all, long time no type.
Brought home an Atari 400 today. Got it, a 410 recorder, three cartridges and a cassette game for about $12.50. No power supply, but I had one.
Haven't tried the recorder yet, but the 400 works great. Puts out a great picture, as good or maybe better than my 800XL on its monitor output. Really impressed - this is my first from the original 400/800 line.
Question is - I noticed on the bottom of the case, at the back top, there's a stamp in silver: "Atari / 281" Any significance to that?
It's also got a solid red sticker on the bottom saying "16K RAM." I know that's saying how much memory it has, since I guess they were first intended to have 4k, and then later had 8k, right?
The 281 number seems to be part of what I guess is the serial number. I'm seeing two numbers. One is "G 16K 281 6800," the other is "WW281/20"
Any meaning to those?
Case is kinda yellowed I think, and there's a chunk of plastic missing from near the controller ports between the third and fourth port, but otherwise it's in good shape. Keyboard is pretty solid.
