Got my Sears Video Arcade, need help

I mentioned ordering one in a previous discussion. I paid 50 dollars for it with free shipping and a ton of games, so I did ok. There are problems however and I'm not too sure where to go next. I have a working light six unit also which I plan on giving to my brother at some point.

1- the atari controllers aren't working. Well one has directional issues and the other seems dead. Should I just buy the aftermarket ones, pick something else, or get a repair kit. I've seen repair kits before but have no idea what it costs. Same with the paddle controllers from both Atari's.
2- the AV cord has some damage. It's not bad but how hard is it to put a new one on? I looked inside the vents without taking it apart and it seems to be simply soldered to the bottom of the MB. I could be wrong.
3- I don't like the power cord. It's fine but it has nicks as well. I think they must have had the cords coming out of a metal box. There's no exposed wire on the power cord (the AV cord has exposed copper.) I found one on Ebay new in box for 10 dollars.

Any thoughts? I know that Atari2600.com and Best Electronics do refurbs but that seems to extreme in a way. Mailing it off to who knows where.
