I just opened one of my 1050 disk drives and found these inside:

it looks different from all my other 1050s in the following ways:

- Voltage regulators mounted upside down and have long cables attached to the pins going to different places on the mobo than all my other 1050s. Apparently this is a different design on the Atari's part as the mobo and some other components also look different.

- There is a mod (several wires on the SIO connectors and towards the middle of the mobo, one trace is cut) I have no idea what this has been done for?

- Also this mobo has 2 jumper bridges instead of 4. IIRC, that is something that affects which US Doubler chip should be used if installed.

- There is an EPROM instead of a ROM for the Tendon chip with an original ATARI label on it. Looks like Atari used EPROMS in some of the 1050s?
