uk light sixer power supply - will a multi-adaptor work?

I bought  woody sixer vcs off ebay - it looks in mint condition, as do the paddels and joysticks.  It doesn't have a power supply, do I need a genuine atari power supply, or can I get a multi adapter from  maplin and use that? If so, which way is the polarity and what voltage should I use?  I am in the UK.
